Brock Duke is an experienced Dallas trial attorney.

Mr. Duke's journey towards the courtroom started at Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelors Degree in Economics (1998) with an emphasis in Law. Upon graduation he remained at Oklahoma State University and obtained his Masters Degree in Economics (2000). It was then that he entered Law School at the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 2003.

A Passion for Criminal Law

Brock’s passion has always been working in the field of criminal law. He was licensed in November 2003 and started his career that very month in rural east Texas at the Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney's Office. It was there that he was sent to the courtroom his very first week on the job. The District Attorney told him, "Books will help, seminars will assist, but nothing will teach you how to be a trial attorney except trial experience." That is exactly what he got! During his first week as an attorney he sat at the counsel table and assisted the District Attorney in a murder trial. That trial resulted in a guilty verdict from the jury followed shortly by a life sentence for the murderer.

Brock Duke was the lead prosecutor and assisted on over one hundred jury trials in Van Zandt County. These were felony cases that consisted of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Injury to a Child, Burglary, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Felony Theft, Felony Driving While Intoxicated, and Murder. Also included were misdemeanor cases: Driving While Intoxicated, Assault, Assault Family Violence, Theft, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, Traffic Citations, and Animal Cruelty.

The Road to Becoming a Resourceful Dallas Defense Attorney

The lessons he learned in Van Zandt County were not restricted to the courtroom. In a rural county, resources are limited. Brock could not rely on teams of law enforcement to always be available. Therefore he learned how to conduct further trial investigation on his own. He often visited crime scenes on his own initiative and discovered valuable information that was the difference in a dangerous criminal being convicted and sent to prison or being loose in the community.

In 2005 Brock Duke left east Texas and continued his path as a prosecutor at the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office in McKinney, where his courtroom and trial experience continued to grow. He was quickly promoted to Court Chief and conducted over forty jury trials. These included Driving While Intoxicated, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass, and the violent crimes of Assault andAssault Family Violence. In addition to conducting jury trials, Brock's duties as a Court Chief were expanded. They included investigating and preparing cases for trial as well as training new prosecutors how to conduct and win jury trials.

In 2006 Brock Duke took his experience and skills to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office in Fort Worth. It was there that his trial experience grew even more. He continued to conduct trials that included Driving While Intoxicated, Indecent Exposure, and Theft. He was then assigned to the District Attorney's Office Family Violence Unit. There his sole responsibility consisted of conducting trials that involved violent offenses committed against family members. This included violent acts against one's spouse, relatives, or children.

Following a successful tenure in the Family Violence Unit, Brock was placed on a District Court trial team where he continued to conduct trials. He was the lead prosecutor and assisted on felony trials that included Aggravated Robbery, Assault on a Public Servant, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, Felony Assault Family Violence, Indecency with a Child, Sexual Assault, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon by a Felon, Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Chemicals with Intent to Manufacture.

Brock Duke spent over six years as a prosecutor working to put criminals in Texas prisons. He attended multiple trial skills seminars and schools put on by the Texas District and County Attorney's Association, some of which are available only to prosecutors. They included but are not limited to the Texas Homicide Symposium, TDCAA Trial Skills Seminar, and the TDCAA Advanced Trial Skills Seminar. In addition he participated in training Police Officers on how to testify in DWI jury trials. But the true measure of his ability comes not from schools or seminars. It comes from the thousands of hours spent in courtrooms, in front of juries, conducting trials.

The Other Side of the Aisle: Working as a Dallas Defense Attorney

In January 2010 Brock Duke left the District Attorney's Office and opened the Law Office of Brock Duke. He is now dedicating his time and efforts to defending the rights of those accused of a crime.

What separates Brock from other Dallas Criminal Defense Attorneys is the experience he has as a prosecutor.

He is highly experienced in the practice of law in rural east Texas, the conservative north Dallas area and Fort Worth. During his time as a prosecuting attorney, all day everyday was spent preparing, planning, strategizing, and anticipating the outcome of jury trials. All that time adds up to a keen sense of how a criminal case in Dallas and Fort Worth will turn out. This knowledge cannot be learned, bought, or given. It can only be gained through time in a courtroom.

As your criminal defense attorney in Dallas, Brock Duke will offer you this advantage. His first task will be to plan your case as if he was the prosecutor trying to put you in jail or prison. It is then that he will take the prosecution's case apart piece by piece. Why is this important? Because the District Attorney's Office and its prosecutors are the people who are trying to brand you as a criminal for the rest of your life. They are the people who have the power and ability to convince a jury to send you to jail or prison. These are implications that can severely alter the rest of your life.

Brock Duke has direct knowledge of how prosecutors prepare for each case, and how devastating the outcomes can be for defendants. He also knows how a prosecutor can “lose” a jury trial. This is the most important advantage he offers his clients. A very small percentage of all criminal defense attorneys in Texas, much less in Dallas, can bring you this level of inside knowledge.

If you are charged with a crime, do you want your future in the hands of just any criminal defense attorney? Or would you rather hire someone with the knowledge, skills, and background who knows firsthand how the game is played and won?

The Law Office of Brock Duke handles all types of criminal cases. If you have been arrested and charged with a crime, we can and will help.
